SCORM stands for **Sharable Content Object Reference Model**. It's an industry standard for packaging and delivering digital learning content — think of it as a universal format that most Learning Management Systems (LMS) recognize and support. If you've ever built training content in tools like Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, iSpring, or any major authoring tool, there's a good chance your output is a SCORM package. It's the closest thing the e-learning world has to a universal language. SCORM does two things well: - It packages your course content (slides, interactions, assessments) into a portable ZIP file that any compatible LMS can open and run. - It tracks learner behavior — specifically, whether a learner completed a module and how long they spent on it. Trainn supports **SCORM 1.2** and **SCORM 2004** (all editions) — the two most widely used versions. --- ## Why does SCORM matter for course creators? Switching to a new LMS has traditionally meant one of two things. 1. You abandon your existing content and rebuild everything from scratch. 2. You maintain two separate systems — your old platform for legacy content, and your new one for everything else. Neither is a good option. Running two systems creates fragmentation — learner data lives in different places, reporting becomes inconsistent, and your team spends more time managing tools than creating content. SCORM import solves this by letting your existing content travel with you. --- ## Why Trainn built SCORM Import Trainn is built for teams creating customer education — onboarding flows, feature walkthroughs, product training. Many of those teams come to Trainn from other LMS platforms, carrying content they've spent months (sometimes years) building.. SCORM Import means you don't have to choose between your existing content library and a better platform. You bring your content with you, deliver it inside Trainn's course structure, and keep all your learner tracking in one place. --- ## What's included ### Upload and import SCORM packages Upload a SCORM-compliant ZIP file directly into Trainn. Once uploaded, it becomes available as a lesson type within your course builder — no manual reconstruction required. ### Native lesson type SCORM content is treated as a first-class lesson within Trainn's course structure. It follows the same sequencing behavior as any other lesson — learners move through it in the order you set. ### Learner tracking Trainn tracks the following for every SCORM lesson: What's tracked Details Completion status Whether the learner has completed the module Time spent Total duration of the learner's session > **Note:** Trainn currently tracks completion status and time spent. Score-based tracking (pass/fail grades) is not included in this release. --- ## Availability SCORM Import is available on the **Enterprise plan** only. The feature is not enabled by default. Once enabled for your account, SCORM will appear as a lesson type inside your Courses builder. --- ## How to get access 1. Confirm you are on the Enterprise plan. 2. Submit a request to your Customer Success Manager or contact us at support@trainn.co. 3. Our team will enable SCORM Import for your account. 4. Once enabled, SCORM will appear as a lesson type when adding lessons to a course. 5. --- ## Frequently asked questions **Which SCORM versions are supported?** SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 (all editions). **Can I use SCORM Import on a non-Enterprise plan?** No. SCORM Import is currently available exclusively on the Enterprise plan. If you're interested in upgrading, reach out to your Customer Success Manager. **What happens to my SCORM content if I disable the feature?** Please contact your CSM before making any changes to your SCORM configuration to avoid disruption to active learners. **Does Trainn track quiz scores from SCORM packages?** Not in this release. Trainn currently tracks completion status and time spent. Score tracking is on the roadmap. **Can learners access SCORM lessons on mobile?** SCORM module compatibility on mobile depends on how the original content was authored. Content built for desktop-first delivery may not render optimally on smaller screens.
