How to Add Pauses to Voiceover Scripts?

Use the Add Pause feature to insert a short break in your AI-generated voiceover, helping you create more natural, clear, and engaging audio. Adding pauses gives you greater control over the pacing and flow of your content when you want to emphasize a point, separate ideas, or sync the narration with on-screen visuals.

You can select a pause duration using the slider with preset options, or quickly add a one-second pause using the shortcut key for mac cmd + ; for windows ctrl + ;

This guide walks you through adding a pause using both the slider and the shortcut key.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the clip where you want to customize the voiceover.

  2. In the script editor, position your cursor where you want the pause to be inserted.

  3. You’ll find the Add Pause option in the right side navigation.

  4. Use the Slider to adjust the pause duration between 0.25 seconds to 5 seconds.

  5. Click Add to insert a pause.

  6. Once added, the pause will appear in your script as a placeholder.

Note: If you want to add a one-second pause, place the cursor in your script editor where you want the pause to be inserted and use the shortcut key cmd + ;

Pause placeholders appear only in the script editor. They will not be visible in the captions or transcript generated for the video.

Limitations

  • You won’t be able to insert pauses into uploaded audio recordings or human voiceovers.

  • Pause duration is capped at 5 seconds. If you need a longer pause, consider adding multiple pauses.

  • Add Pause option isn't available for premium voiceovers.
